I just joined the site and I am finding the download/buffering speed of the videos to be extremely slow. A current speed test shows me downloading at 69Mbps so it is not my internet connection. I have tried both google chrome and safari (both are current versions). I have cleared my cache as suggested and I am running the most recent version of Adobe flash.

Me too, spent a good few hours. Tried 3 browsers. A youtube vid load in seconds. I feel really let down on my first day.

Keep in mind that with streaming videos the upload speed is often more important that the download speed. Our videos perform best when your upload speed is 1.5Mbps or greater. You can rerun the speedtest to see what your upload speed is, especially during time of the day when the video playback is at its slowest.

Different streaming services use different technology so it's not something you can directly compare. For instance, YouTube uses an algorithm in their proprietary technology to automatically feed you lower quality content that streams faster if they calculate that you are experiencing a slower connection. This means that sometimes students do have slow upload speeds but don't realize it.

Please contact Customer Service directly so we can help you with this issue individually. We'll need to know your download and, most importantly, your upload speed. Also let us know what device and browsers you have tried, whether the trouble is with a specific set of lessons, and whether this happens all the time or at a particular time of day. We'll be able to look into this further once we get more details about the issue.

Upload/download attached - I am only having streaming issues on ArtistWorks.com. I am also a new student and for the 3rd consecutive day cannot stream the videos lessons or exchanges. I would kindly ask that you add each lost day of video instruction to my enrollment start date. I was only able to stream the first 6 lessons on the first day and nothing since. Contacted CS. Frustrated Artist. ;= (

Issue resolved - Problem with my user name: D'Artanyon. Removed the apostrophe; video lessons and exchanges works fine now. BTW - Never heard from support. :( ~DT

This is the only site I have streaming issues with. Just speed tested at 89Mbps down and 38 up and still have issues. I'm thinking that artistworks is just being cheap on the server end. Too bad because the lessons are good. It's gonna make me a one and done due to lack of accessibility for videos.

Same to me! i'm really pissed off!!, just made 1 year subscription and i can't see properly any kind of Video!  And i can't get the refund!!! Worst decision ever to join this "school".

lessons are good but as long as i can't watch them properly is just a waste of time.

I got part of the way through the "fundamentals" lesson videos, but now cannot watch any more of the lesson videos. It just keeps saying "loading video" and nothing happens.

Same here - it's been happening ever since I started watching Mike Block's cello videos several months ago.  Really frustrating not being able to watch a whole video without it's pausing for minutes or hours.  I watch late at night in the Western time zone, so it's not like the site is overloaded at that time.

I am having a LARGER than LARGE struggle finding the clarinet lessons - they don't seem to be displayed clearly enough for me.  Please tell me where to find them. I am looking forwards to working at them.

If you can tell  me from the word GO  where I should start looking in order to find them.

What should I use as my opening address -" ArtistWorks"  then what comes next??

    A million 'Thanks'

I am having the same trouble.

I have been a member of other paid 'lesson database' type sites and I have never experienced such slow buffering before.

Does this site still use Flash? Really? Flash is gone, dead, defunct, deceased. Even Adobe has washed its hands of it. Why aren't the videos using HTML5?

Same here, only have streaming issues with Artistworks. I wrote an email to the customer service to complain about this. The response was quick and polite but they told me that they "aren't getting reports of issues from other students". Well looks like this is not true. This website almost entirely depends on video playing so they seriously need to work on updating and optimizing the servers.

The lesson videos work fine for me - but I cannot view many of the video exchanges and responses no matter how long I wait.  I'm afraid the site needs work.

I am able to run Flash videos (using Opera), but I have to press play twice (once to load Flash for each video, and once to get the video to actually play).  I also have buffering issues, but I have had this with one other online lesson site (through Wordpress).

I turned off the Turbo mode in Opera and it works better (still a little glitchy but much improved).

I'm having the same experience with the Ukulele lessons, and there seem to be issues with Blues Guitar and Classical Guitar, too. I think there's a problem with the server since the videos usually work just fine for me.

Anyone having trouble the past couple of days? Videos were buffering just fine before the weekend and started acting funny (and by funny I mean slow) again.

I just started the bluegrass bass class and I'm having problems uploading a video.  I did successfully upload  a >250mbps video.  This new one is >450 mgps but I compressed it (per the site's recommendations) to around 300mgps.   Still can't get it to work.  I've done a speedtest on my computer and think I'm ok there.  Any help would be appreciated.

I just got received a notification that I received a reply to a video that I submitted, however, the video (neither the one I submitted or the reply video from craig and sarah) is not loading. I tested other videos and none of the videos seem to be loading today. This is the first time I have had any problems with this. I have followed all the recommendations so everything should be working. Help.

How come AW don't use a CDN (Content Delivery Network)?

Vidoes downloaded from Texas to Finland, Australia, Malaysia, are going to be slow to load. Plus you're giving away all of the content on Artistworks.com.

Here's a walkthrough for anyone interested:—

HTML5 VE's of Paul Gilbert's School of Rock Guitar are, for me, served as mp4's loaded from pgsg.06.awimedia.net. ping tells me that the ip address for the domain is 173.193.172.147.
$ ping pgsg.06.awimedia.net

    PING prod-media1.awimedia.net (173.193.172.147):
https://www.iplocation.net/ tells me that 173.193.172.147 is located in Texas. I'm guessing that the sub sub domain "pgsg" stands for "Paul Gilbert School of Guitar" (there are also nesb for Nathan East's School of Bass). Subdomains 06 and 05 return the same content and resolve to the same IP address. There's no CDN, just a backup for whatever reason.

None of the contents are https and no authentication is needed to access them -- all free for anyone who knows the correct URL. PDFs aren't served with NOINDEX, so they're on Google— https://www.google.com/search?q=site:awimedia.net

Sharing the video URL with others is probably against the terms, possibly illegal, and certainly uncool, so don't.
